The problem was reported to Digital (along with a temporary work-around) and will hopefully be corrected in a soon-to-be-released update. The latest CD ROM exacerbated the problem symptom, but does not effect the work-around. An error had been generated when trying to access the documentation for TeamRoute for All-In-1. The error reported that a given "BOOK" was not available. Now, with the latest CDs, BOOKREADER does not seem to generate the error, but simply aborts! The error may never be seen by your site. It depends on the order of allocation when creating the DISK$BOOKDEV logical. Each CD carries a complete index on it - an index good for all three CDs. (That's why you may have noticed that everything in the BOOKREADER Master Menu can be found listed three times.) The work-around is simple. If you select "Office Automation" from the BOOKREADER Main Menu, and traverse the levels to TeamRoute for All-In-1 Installation and System Management Guide (or the User Guide) - and IF AN ERROR OCCURS - go back to the Main BOOKREADER Menu, and page down to the second or third entry for Office Automation, and proceed normally from there. Now you are using a different directory path to get to the same "Books"... and the second and third disks have the correct path. We regret the inconvenience, but we can not alter CD ROMs and have to wait for a permanent resolution from Digital. If you run into similar problems, or have questions about the work-around, please contact SCSYS@SNYBUFVA. 2.0 Use of SBSCVA strongly encouraged Common SUNY Support Center members are strongly encouraged to use the SBSCVA system, rather than the SBUFVA system for both GETSOFTWARE file transfers AND interactive functions (general use, as well as SCxxxUM, SCxxxDS and SCxxxDSN functions). We are temporarily closing the SCDAY queue (for GETSOFTWARE file transfers) on the SBUFVA system ONLY. It will remain as is on the SBSCVA system. SCNIGHT and SCTAPES stay as is on BOTH systems. 3.0 Next CSSC Executive and Advisory Board meeting dates Both Boards will meet at the COA/TOA Fall meeting in Syracuse at the Quality Inn North. Executive Board meeting, Monday, 11/8/93, 7 pm Advisory Board meeting, Tuesday pm (last two time slots), 11/9/93 4.0 New SUNYCSSC Bitnet discussion list For the use of the Common SUNY Support Center members a Bitnet discussion list was recently created called SUNYCSSC. This list we hope will foster interactive discussion between all Support Center members. Items of immediate interest from Ron Brown will be sent out on this discussion list.
