This publication will bring you timely news that will impact all members of the Common SUNY Support Center (CSSC). Expect publication about every two weeks. This first publication will be sent to a special distribution list of users at Support Center campuses but future publications will be received by CSSC Advisory Committee members only. However, all members will be able to read future newsletters in the SNYBSCVA'S VAX Notes conference CSSC-NEWS. We are now offering for full member campuses only a user account per campus to which DSNLink will be accessible. These accounts will be set up as SCxxxDSN where the xxx will be your Support Center three letter index (i.e., Alfred's is ALF). This is only one of four special privileged accounts that are offered to Support Center members: License Manager's account: ability to access GETSOFTWARE User Manager's account: ability to create accounts on SNYBSCVA Decus tapes' account: ability to access DECUS tapes and now DSNLink accounts. The Director at each campus should send information as to who will be responsibility for this account at your campus to SCACAD. Remote users only need to do a SET HOST SBSCVA and then type in a username of CWIS which will allow them access to 1. BSINFO (Buffalo State INFOrmation system) 2. DOC (online DOCumentation system) 3. SOFTWAREA (available software for CSSC clients) 4. MOTD (Message Of The Day - system message) 5. NOTES (VAX NOTES) 6. VMS HELP Please note that this account is hot off the presses and the format will probably change. 6.0 What's new in GETSOFTWARE...eXcursion The saveset for eXcursion for Windows has recently been put into GETSOFTWARE. Several sites have been asking for this PC software and we are glad to report it is now available. 7.0 Acquiring four new DECUS tapes Currently, we have three DECUS tapes (Fall 89, Spring and Fall 90) accessible by Support Center member campuses who have requested special privileged accounts (see Item 1.0 DSNLink above). We are acquiring four new DECUS tapes: Spring and Fall 91; Spring and Fall 92. We presently have only three spots on our CDROM driver to hold these tapes. So when the new tapes arrive we will place the three most recent ones on the drives and anyone who wishes another of the DECUS CDROMS to be placed temporarily on the drives, please let us know. 8.0 Listing of CSSC Advisory Committee members The following is a listing of the CSSC Advisory Committee members.
