1) Support information:

SUNY MINITAB support procedures
for Campus MINITAB Management Team (MINITABMT)

  1.a) First level of support:

Campuses must provide local support for MINITAB via their campus MINITAB Management Team (MINITABMT) consisting of no less than the Campus MINITAB license manager, technical coordinator and training coordinators.  ALIS will make appropriate training available for the MINITABMT.

The MINITABMT should read and become familiar with all documentation.  It is the responsibility of each user to be familiar with the instructions in the appropriate manual.

   1.b) Second level of support:

For those support issues the MINITABMT cannot handle, they then may turn to 24-hour by 7-day support through the SUNY-wide support facility, Information Technology Exchange Center (ITEC), through using the @task Helpdesk (@task accounts and instructions will be sent to newly signed-on campuses) or by emailing SCACAD @itec.mail.suny.edu.  Only questions received from the designated MINITABMT will be accepted.

Also, included in your message must be the severity level of the problem:

Low - We request assistance in how to do something, where to look for additional information or, is an approach to a problem solution viable.

Normal - Assistance is needed regarding a known problem. The function/component is operational; however, assistance is needed.

High - A critical component of a system is not operational.

Urgent - Entire system is not operational.

ITEC has procedures to follow for support during office hours and after hours.  Please go to http://www.itec.suny.edu/info/contact_procedure.htm to become familiar with these procedures.

SCACAD in partnership with the SUNY MINITAB Support Team will respond during normal business hours (see Contact Procedures document above) within the hour with the answer or to inform the campus the problem/question was received and will be researched.

2) MINITAB software and documentation distribution

Once ITEC receives the campus’ Participating Institution Agreement  (PIA) for MINITAB, most recently released software and all future upgrades will be shipped to the campus’ License Manager.

Campuses will receive one physical set of disks of which they can duplicate but each copy shall retain the MINITAB copyright notice in electronic form and each physical set of disks or CD-ROM containing the software shall have a label affixed externally on the media with the following notice: “© (applicable year), MINITAB Inc. All rights reserved” showing the copyright year appropriate to each release/version of the Software that is copied.  If MINITAB notifies ITEC, and you in turn, in writing of any copyright changes, you shall make changes in such notices at the earliest practical opportunity.

A documentation file will be located on the CDs and the campus will be able to copy it in unlimited quantities.

3)  MINITAB-l@ls.suny.edu list

All MINITABMT members will be subscribed to the MINITAB-l@ls.suny.edu list, which will be a vehicle to send out MINITAB questions and resolutions within SUNY in hopes that they will be a good source of information to everyone.

Any further questions, may be sent to the ITEC-Academic support group via their @task Helpdesk account or by emailing scacad@itec.suny.edu
