CD-ROM Mounting Instructions
Please use the following commands when mounting the disc on the
platforms listed:
- OpenVMS (Alpha or VAX)
- OpenVMS Version 6.0 and above,
-
$ mount/override=identification/media_format=cdrom +
/undefined_fat=(stream:2048) device_name:
- OpenVMS Version 5.5,
-
$ cd_mount/override=identification/media_format=cdrom +
/undefined_fat=(stream:2048) device_name:
- Compaq Tru64 UNIX
-
# mount -r -t cdfs -o noversion /dev/rz*c /mnt_point
- where
-
-
/dev/rz*c is the device where the CD-ROM is located and
-
/mnt_point is the mount point of the CD-ROM
- Windows NT/Windows 95
Place the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. Close drive.

Expanding Product Binaries
OpenVMS (Alpha or VAX)
The OpenVMS files are compressed to preserve the kits RMS characteristics
when the files are transferred across different operating systems. The compressed
files are referred to as self extracting executables.
Two types of self extracting executables exist on this disc. The compression algorithm
used and the file extension are the only differences between the file types. The
process to decompress either file type is identical (see examples below).
The files are machine dependent for decompression. To decompress, copy the self
extracting executables from the CD-ROM to a directory on the appropriate OpenVMS
system (VAX or Alpha). Decompress each kit with the RUN command.
- For example,
- $ run aclue011.a_dcx_vaxexe (expands on a VAX system)
- $ run aclue011.a_dcx_axpexe (expands on an ALPHA system)
- $ run diav029a.exe (expands on a VAX system)
- $ run diaa029a.exe (expands on an ALPHA system)
This file will decompress to the original kit name. PCSI kits may now be
installed using PRODUCT INSTALL and savesets can be installed with VMSINSTAL.
Compaq Tru64 UNIX
The tar command is used to restore data from traditional format tar archives.
Restore data from a tar archive by doing the following:
- Change current working directory to be the location where the archive will be
restored to. For example,
-
- # mkdir decevent
- # cd decevent
- Restore data from tar file as follows:
-
- # tar -xvf /mnt_point/unix/decevent/kits/diau290.tar
Where:
-
- /mnt_point/unix/decevent/kits/diau290.tar is the location on the CD-ROM
of the file to be restored.
Windows NT/Windows 95
Windows product binaries on this disc are in two formats; self-extracting archive and
ZIP format.
- Self-extracting archive - To restore data from a self-extracting archive file
(with a .EXE file extension) double click on the file name.
- ZIP - Restoring data from a ZIP file (with a .ZIP file extension) requires the use of
an extraction tool such as WinZip. Some of the zip files on the disc are
shipped with a platform dependent unzip executable. Please use the platform
dependent unzip executable when one is provided.
Navigation Utility
OpenVMS, Compaq Tru64 UNIX, Windows NT/95
- Mount disc using mount instructions listed above
- Using a browser, display the file home.htm located in the root directory of the CD-ROM.
Follow links as directed in .htm files.
Adobe Acrobat Reader Installation Instructions
Compaq Tru64 UNIX, Windows NT/95
- Review the System Requirements and the
Installation Instructions prior to installation.
- The Adobe Acrobat Reader software is located in the adobe_acrobat_reader directory off of the root directory of the CD-ROM.
- Initiate installation based on operating system and file type (see instructions above to expand product binaries).
Complete installation instructions are included within the Acrobat Reader software.
Special Notes
Copying documentation from CD-ROM to customer's system
- If any documentation files are copied from the CD to a customer's system,
the directory structure that exists on the CD-ROM should be maintained in
order for the graphics to appear. This includes copying the directory
labeled graphics in the root directory.
